Ministry of Interior notifies increased fines on Traffic Violations

ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP): The Ministry of Interior on Tuesday issued a notification regarding the increased fines for traffic violations in Islamabad to curb violations and ensure road safety.

The new fines, which came into effect on 26 September 2023, are significantly higher than the previous ones, with some fines increasing by up to 100%.

According to the new notification, the minimum fine over violations will be Rs 500, Rs 1000 for a speeding motorcycle rider, Rs 1500 for a motor car, Rs 2000 for a PSV vehicle and Rs 2500 for an HTV vehicle.

A fine of Rs 1,500 will be imposed for using tinted glasses, a fine of Rs 2,000 will be imposed for irresponsible or reckless driving and a fine of Rs 2,500 will be imposed on the underage driver.

A fine of Rs 1000 will be imposed for illegal parking, a fine of Rs 5000 will be imposed on one wheeling, Rs 1000 for riding a motorcycle without a driving license, Rs 2000 for driving a motor car, Rs 8000 for HTV and PSV vehicle.

The Islamabad Police is running a campaign to encourage citizens to obey traffic rules. The increase in fines is also aimed at deterring people from violating traffic rules and ensuring the safety of all road users.
