ISLAMABAD, Jan 26 (APP):First Lady Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon Hussain Friday said Pakistan and Indonesia were tied in historical bonds and the bilateral ties were getting stronger with the passage of time.
The first lady said this in a meeting with her Indonesian counterpart Irina Joko Widodo at Aiwan-e-Sadr who was on two-day official visit here.
The meeting was also attended by the spouses of visiting Indonesian trade minister and Indonesian ambassador to Pakistan. Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq comprised the Pakistani delegation.
The first lady said Pakistani women were proving their strength in various sectors and also lauded the role of All Pakistan Women Association.
She said Father of the Nation and First Indonesian President Soekarno was very popular among the Pakistani people. Even many roads and places had been named after him, she added.
The first lady also got some awareness about the Family Welfare Organization of Indonesia and said Indonesian women were contributing to country’s prosperity by serving in multiple fields.
Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon said the trend of tourism to Indonesia was increasing that would help to promote the bilateral ties.
She also felicitated Indonesian first lady on wedding of her daughter took place in November last and extended best wishes for the successful marital life of the couple.
The first lady viewed that the visit of the Indonesian president and the first lady would boost the warmth and brotherhood between the two countries.
Indonesian first lady thanked her Pakistani counterpart for the hospitality and warm reception and said that her family and Indonesian people wished the progress and prosperity of their Pakistani brethren.
